Roberta Shanks, who helped with the club, gathered up all the fabric, sewing machines and other accessories, and has kept them in storage units all this time.

At the suggestion of Sue Burge, and believing that the time was right, Shanks has made the materials available to the Flora Senior Center. She is heading up the Senior Center Sewing Circle. Volunteers are meeting on Thursdays at 12:30 p.m.

They are starting out making rugs. Other products will be tote bags for walkers, baby and doll comforts, and later fullsize comforts. Items will be for sale at the Flora Senior Center chili supper in October. Proceeds will go to the van fund and other needs at the Center.

More volunteers are welcome to come and help sort fabric blocks, sew, and knot (later in the fall). Flora Senior Center Director, Mary Jo Redmon, said volunteers can come when the Circle meets on Thursdays or at any other time when the Center is open.
