Delphi Middle School students participated in a Triathlon Aug. 27 at superintendent Ralph Walker's home on Lake Shafer. Organized by PE instructor Theresa Travers, parents, grandparents, extended family members, school administrators, local law and water safety enforcement officials as well as Carroll Circuit Court Judge Donald Currie assisted participants in the day's activities, which included a 200-yard swim, five-and-a-half-mile bicycle route and a two-mile run. "This is doing what it was designed to do," Travers said of the second annual event. "Kids are getting healthier and helping their families to develop healthier lifestyles." Travers said approximately 137 youth participated last year, the first year, and roughly 167 participated last week. "I think we're the only school in the area doing this. This is a positive thing - nothing is negative," she added. Pictured are student participants, family members and volunteer staff. Comet photo by Debbie Lowe
