Betty L. Kirkpatrick, 86, of Delphi, died at 8:35 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Delphi.

Born Jan. 24, 1922, in Delphi, she was the daughter of Leonard and Gladys Bever Hayden. Her marriage was on July 13, 1946, in Crown Point, to Oscar B. Kirkpatrick, who preceded her in death Dec. 26, 1994.

Mrs. Kirkpatrick was retired from the Delphi Community School Corporation where she was employed as a cook at Hillcrest Elementary and Delphi Community High schools for 22 years. She was a member of the Living Faith Church of the Brethren in Flora. She was also a member of the Delphi American Legion Auxiliary.

Mrs. Kirkpatrick enjoyed the Saturday Evening Supper Club, reading, traveling, playing Bingo, and slot machines. She loved fishing in Canada.

Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Cripe (husband: Vernon) and Marcia Pitty (husband: Milt), both of Delphi; a son, Michael L. "Otto" Kirkpatrick (wife: Jennifer) of Walton; a special friend, Elmer Uhrick of Bluffton; nine grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren.

Her faithful companion was her dog Bingo.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, a son Charles Kirkpatrick, a grandson Sean Kirkpatrick, brother Delbert Hayden, and sister Florence Kenworthy.

Services were held Friday at Davidson Funeral Home in Delphi. Pastor Jeff Tomson officiated. Burial followed at I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens, Delphi.
