4-wheelers crash on county road
Indiana Conservation Officer Matt Tholen investigated an ATV crash in Carroll County Saturday night at approximately 11 p.m. The wreck involved four vehicles and occurred at CRs 150S and 50E.
Witnesses said an ATV operated by Jesse Downham, 20, was traveling at a high rate of speed and collided with another ATV operated by Levi Byrd, 19. Three people went to the hospital and Byrd was Lifelined to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was listed in stable condition as of Sunday morning.
None of the juveniles, including a 14-year-old, were wearing helmets. According to the report, an initial investigation revealed Downham's ATV was traveling at a high rate of speed and alcohol may have been a contributing factor. Downham was arrested on suspicion of operating an ATV under the influence of alcohol and minor consumption of alcohol. He was taken to the Carroll County Jail.
All drivers were cited for being on a public road on an ATV. The other two drivers were released at the scene.
