Rescued sparrow becomes house pet
      If a baby sparrow falls from the nest, does anyone care? Sharon Herron of Deer Creek does. She found a tiny house sparrow, less than a week old, in her front yard in July. She said she looked around for a nest but didn't see one. Sharon took the bird into her house, nurtured and cared for it, and now it is thriving.

Delphi resident is honored for volunteerism
      Ken Green of Delphi was one of 17 senior Hoosiers who received a Golden Hoosier Award for his volunteer work. The award presentation was held at the Governor's Residence on Aug. 14.

Hawkins heads up fire prevention program
      Lt. Richard "Hawk" Hawkins has resumed the duties of the Delphi Tri-Township Volunteer Fire Department Fire Safety Program. Hawkins coordinated the program from 2000 until July 2007 when he stepped down to stabilize an employment situation.

Clarification
      The Horseshoe Bend Civic Association, which is comprised of several members, sent a complaint letter about nuisance properties on the Bend to Carroll County Commissioners, which was announced at the last commissioners meeting.

Former Comet intern gets new culture
      Recent Delphi Community High School graduate Jenna Buehler was accepted by De- Pauw University for the fall semester. While researching the school's Web site after acceptance, she registered for a trip sponsored by the school's foreign language department. Buehler volunteered to be part of a group and travel to the South American country of Ecuador in August.

Camden Pageant winners are named
      Kara Schwarzkopf was crowned Miss Camden at the 4th annual pageant held Saturday in the Community Building. Also crowned were the 2008 Little Miss, Daisy Rostron, and the 2008 Little Mister, Isaac DeKalb. Emcees for this year's pageant were Channel 18 Meteorologist, Mike Prangley and the 2007 Miss Camden, Denise Kendall. Theme was "Down On The Farm.
