Carroll County police are continuing their efforts to follow up on burglaries which occurred at convenience stores in Flora and Burlington during the early morning hours Thursday.

Flora Chief of Police Paul Redmon said that sometime around 2:15 a.m. a white male threw a rock through a door window of the Spirit of Flora convenience store to gain entry. Based upon initial information gathered from video surveillance at the store, the suspect was in the store for less than 20 seconds, taking only the store's cash register. No cash was reported to be in the register and no other merchandise was immediately reported taken.

Through store video, Redmon said police have obtained a description of the individual. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5'9" to 5'10" tall, dark brown short hair, and a thin width beard. The suspect also appeared to have a dark tattoo on the right side of his neck. He was wearing a light weight, white colored, below the waist length jacket with a hood.

Based upon video at the Burlington Maramart. Police believe both crimes appear to have been committed by the same person.

Carroll County Sheriff's Detective Kevin Hammond said that at approximately 2:30 a.m., a man threw a cinder block through a front window of that business. Once inside, store video revealed that he fit a similar description to the suspect in the Flora crime.

The suspect reportedly tampered with the store's Hoosier Lottery equipment, eventually taking the cash box from the lottery equipment. No other store goods appeared to have been taken. The suspect did tamper with a cigarette display behind the store's front counter.

Video from the store indicated that the suspect was only in the store for 34 seconds.

Chief Redmon and Detective Hammond say that their agencies continue to review the video evidence, also following up on information relating to a sport utility vehicle that might have been used in the commission of the crimes.

Redmon and Hammond ask that if anyone has any information relating to these incidents or might have observed anything around these respective businesses during these times, to contact them.
