      RAY SHEAGLEY has been hired as director of the Lafayette- W e s t Lafayette Employers Health Forum, an employers' group founded in 2005 to address local health care cost issues. Sheagley of Flora, has 35 years' experience in human resources, most recently at Wabash National Corp., where he was director of compensation and benefits before retiring in June.

4-wheelers crash on county road
      Indiana Conservation Officer Matt Tholen investigated an ATV crash in Carroll County Saturday night at approximately 11 p.m. The wreck involved four vehicles and occurred at CRs 150S and 50E. Witnesses said an ATV operated by Jesse Downham, 20, was traveling at a high rate of speed and collided with another ATV operated by Levi Byrd, 19.

      PRETTY PRAIRIE CEMETARY ASSOCIATION will meet Sept. 6 at 1:30 p.m. at the cemetery. Fall cleanup is Nov. 1. The seventh annual Carroll PTO trash bag FUNDRAISER begins Friday and will conclude Sept. 16. Proceeds from the sale will be used for technology items. Last year, LCD projectors and a paper folder for the teacher's workroom were purchased.

Campers need to heed firewood restrictions
      Those planning to camp at an Indiana state park, state recreation area or state forest for Labor Day weekend or at any other time should be aware that there are restrictions on the firewood these properties allow through their gates. The reason is to help slow the spread of the invasive insect emerald ash borer.

      Burlington Community Beginning Sept. 2, the Burlington Community Library will hold a Homework Help Night on Tuesdays from 5-7 p.m. at the library during the school year. Students can come to receive help from an adult on homework assignments and research projects. This is also a great avenue for students to help other students.

Meek cousins reunion
      Sunday, Aug. 17, marked the third reunion of the second generation of May and Ross Meek. The cousins met at the home of Joyce and Joe Brubaker in Kokomo. Attending from the Carroll County area were Ron and Shirley Kuszmaul, Mary Jo and Joe Redmon, Jim and Maryjo Meek, and Scott and Lucy Smith.
