Landon L. Turner
Landon L. Turner, 69, of Rockfield, died at 9:15 a.m. Fri., Aug. 15, 2008, at Hickory Creek in Lebanon.
Born Aug.
24, 1938, in LaFollette, Tenn., he was the son of James Hodge and Bertha Beeler Turner. On Nov. 5, 1956, in LaFollette, he married Lilly Mae McDonald, who survives.
Mr. Turner was a retired construction worker. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Delphi.
He was also retired from the Army National Guard and was a member of the Logansport V.F.W. Post 3790 and the American Legion Post 60.
Mr. Turner was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to cook, garden and spend time with his family and friends.
Surviving with his wife are four daughters, Vontella Schnieb (husband: Brian) of Camden, Kiesta Crume (husband: Dennis), Jean Heise (husband: Sam) and Patricia Appleton (husband: Ron), all of Logansport; three sons, James Turner (wife: Andrea) of Indianapolis, Michael Turner (wife: Mindee) and Lee Turner (wife: Rebekah), both of Logansport; three brothers, John Turner (wife: Charlene) of Logansport, Larry Turner (wife: Teresa) and Hershel Turner, both of LaFollette; two sisters, Margaret Adcock (husband: Robert) and Mary Queener (husband: Kenneth), both of Burrows; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
His parents and a brother, Harrison Ronnie Turner, preceded him in death.
Services were held Tuesday at Gundrum Funeral Home, in Logansport. Pastor Larry Frye officiated. Burial with full military graveside rites was at Rockfield Cemetery, Rockfield.
