1953 Howard Milton Meiers, 73, of Frankfort, died at 10:06 a.m. Aug. 6, 2008, at St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital.

Born Dec. 25, 1934, in Frankfort, he was the son of Paul and Marie McDonald Meiers. He graduated from Frankfort High School in 1953. On May 8, 1954, at Lower Deer Creek Church of the Brethren, Camden, he married Bonnie Oyler, and she survives.

A Frankfort resident his entire life, Mr. Meiers was a switchman for the Norfolk & Western Railroad for 38 years, retiring in 1991.

Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Joyce Jacobs (husband: Marcus) and June Palmer (husband: Mark), both of Frankfort, and Jackie Funk (husband: Chris) of West Lafayette; a son, Eric Meiers of Frankfort; a sister, Nancy Turner (husband: Kay) of Frankfort; a brother, Michael Meiers (wife: Kathy) of Frankfort; and five grandchildren, Matthew Jacobs, Alex Palmer, Francis Funk, Wolfie Funk, and Andy Palmer.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Goodwin Funeral Home, Frankfort. The Rev. Earl Roustio officiated. Burial was at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Frankfort.
