Nancy Kay Pullen, 57, of Frankfort, died at 2:51 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at Milner Comm unity Health Care Center in Rossville.

Born Nov. 10, 1950, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Ray and Rita Marie Turner Funkhouser. Her marriage was on June 12, 1970, in Bringhurst, to Thomas Lee Pullen, who preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 2008.

Mrs. Pullen was a teacher who taught her entire career in the Carroll Consolidated School Corporation, retiring in April 2000. She taught eighth grade English for 26 years.

A 1969 graduate of Carroll High School, she earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in education from Purdue University.

She served as president of the Carroll Education Association for several years and was involved in contract negotiations for many years.

Mrs. Pullen was also a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association and worked with PAC.

She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a former member of Beta Alpha Chapter of Psi Iota Xi.

She was a leader in establishing the Central Indiana Sarcoidosis Support Group.

She loved to read and do cross-stitch.

Surviving are two sons, Darren Pullen (wife: Janelle) of Bringhurst and Duane Pullen (wife: Kristie) of Indianapolis; her father, Ray Funkhouser of Cutler; a sister, Julie Funkhouser of Cutler; three brothers, Dennis Funkhouser of Lafayette, Gary Funkhouser (wife: Vicki) of Wingate, and Thomas Funkhouser (wife: Margie) of Georgetown, Texas; and four grandchildren, Ashlyn, Reagan, Paige and Lincoln Pullen.

Service will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Baker Funeral Home, Flora. Pastor Steve Cole will officiate. Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
