Flora's Garden Spot Express needs volunteer drivers

Garden Spot Express, Flora's new public transit program, is ready to begin regular trips to neighboring communities as soon as enough volunteer drivers are in place. The program provides door-to-door service for passengers of all ages in Flora and all of Monroe Township.

Program organizers are seeking volunteer drivers. In order to drive for the program, volunteers must have a public chauffeur's license or a CDL. Interested individuals should contact dispatcher Mary Jo Redmon at the Flora Senior Center (574) 967- 3400 or stop by the center located at 115 N. Division St. during business hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Garden Spot Express is a donation-based service provided by Area IV Agency on Aging and Community Action Programs in conjunction with the Town of Flora and Monroe Township. The vehicle is wheelchair accessible with a passenger lift. Persons with disabilities are encouraged to use the service.
