Bloodmobile collects 54 units in Flora
      Fifty-four units of blood were received from 63 volunteers when the Red Cross Bloodmobile visited Flora on last Thursday. The Flora Old Order German Baptist Church with ten volunteers will receive $100 from the Flora Psi Iota Xi. The Flora United Methodist Church was runner-up with nine volunteers.

Flora's Garden Spot Express needs volunteer drivers
      Garden Spot Express, Flora's new public transit program, is ready to begin regular trips to neighboring communities as soon as enough volunteer drivers are in place. The program provides door-to-door service for passengers of all ages in Flora and all of Monroe Township.

Elected officials to examine region's workforce
      Locally elected officials will be attending sessions to contribute to development of a State of the Workforce Report for Workforce Region 4, starting next week. Representatives from Benton, Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Fountain, Howard, Miami, Montgomery, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Warren and White counties are expected to participate.

      The Carroll, Clinton, Howard, and Tippecanoe County Soil and Water Conservation Districts will host a No- Till Field Day on Aug. 27. The event will be held at the Purdue Beck Agriculture Center located on US 52 in West Lafayette from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

      The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) has announced it will be accepting online applications for a new grant program promoting arts education. Canine Cavalcade draws 35 competitors
      Winners have been announced from last weekend's Canine Cavalcade held during Carroll County Old Settlers in Delphi. Thirty-five dogs competed in the annual event. The top class was Delphi's Duke Top Dog. With seven competing for the award, winner was Mark Gose and Mya of Kokomo with 56.5 points.

      Carroll County Youth Soccer coach Patrick Hickner of Bringhurst was honored last week as TSS Photography's Indiana Volunteer of the Year. The award recognized him for donating countless hours for the betterment of the Flora community.

Carroll board hires three new teachers
      Just in time for school to start, Carroll School Board approved the hiring of three new teachers at its Aug. 5 meeting. Lindsey Martin and Amy Bochenek will teach kindergarten, and Douglas Danforth will teach chemistry. Elizabeth Rose, Spanish teacher, was granted a sixweeks maternity leave.
