Dorothy L. Allen, 93, of Flora, passed away at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at Regency Place of Lafayette, where she had been admitted the week before.

 

She was born Dec. 12, 1914, in Rockfield, to Lewis and Pearl Bruce Benefiel. She attended Bringhurst schools.

On May 21, 1932, in Rockfield, she married Harold A. Allen, who preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1995.

Mrs. Allen was employed at Sayco for 12 years and The Rainbow Restaurant for six years, both formerly in Flora.

She was a member of the Valley View Baptist Church in Flora and had been a member of the Star in the West Grange.

Surviving are three daughters, Carolyn Britton and Nancy Clingenpeel (husband: Glen), both of Flora, and Karen Sue Clingenpeel (husband: Don) of Lafayette; one son, Harold Junior Allen (wife: Jo) of Flora; one sister, Leah Avery Perkins (husband: Clyde) of Lebanon; one stepsister, Dema Ringer of Robb; 13 grandchildren, Tom Allen, Christy Ritter, Rex Clingenpeel, Steve Clingenpeel, Donna McCain, Kelly Jones, David Reef, Rick Reef, Lisa Fulton, Mike Reef, Bryan Clingenpeel, Tim Clingenpeel, and Tracie Swayze; four step-grandchildren, Greg Miles, Cindy Chapman, Theresa Coppernoll and Sherrie Ent; 24 great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one stepgreat-greatgrandchild.

A daughter and a sister also preceded her in death.

Services were held Saturday at Reinke Funeral Home, Flora. Pastor Bill Godbey officiated. Burial was at Zion Cemetery near Bringhurst.
