DPS sponsoring photographer, singer for OS
Delphi Preservation Society is sponsoring two entertaining programs, plus Opera House tours and historic Delphi trolley tours during Old Settlers this week.
Renowned Indiana photographer John Bower will present a slideshow highlighting some of his work in "Capturing the Soul of Indiana - a Celebration of Our Overlooked Cultural Heritage." The program will be held in the Circuit Court Room of the Courthouse on Friday, beginning at 7 p.m.
The author of several photographic collections, Bower's recent book, "Silent Workplaces," included a photo essay on the Delphi Opera House. Book sales and signing will immediately follow the program.
Local singer/songwriter Eric Hicks will be on stage in the Delphi Opera House on Saturday night, starting at 7 p.m. The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy the images painted by Hicks' voice and guitar while experiencing the mystique of the Opera House.
There will be four sets, limited to 50 at each seating. Shows are free, but a goodwill donation toward the restoration of the Opera House is requested. Regularly scheduled tours of the Opera House will also be held throughout Old Settlers at posted times.
Returning by popular demand will be trolley tours of historic Delphi narrated by Greg Norman, Brian Stirm, and Mark Smith. The tours will leave from Murphy Fountain on the southwest corner of the Courthouse Square on Saturday afternoon from 1 to 5 p.m. The tours will showcase some of Delphi's oldest and most beautiful homes and businesses.
