Making a difference
Three years after his death, Gary Stout's church, Faith Church of Christ in Burlington, is carrying on his work building houses in Jamaica. In June 2005, Stout joined a mission team from Delphi that was going to Jamaica to build houses for the needy. He wondered how God could use him to get his church more involved in missions. That year he died on the trip to Ocho Rios. The next year his family organized a mission trip to Highgate on the first anniversary of his death with many family and church members participating. This year, 35 joined the mission team and four houses were built in Jamaica during a week in June. "Praise God for Gary's vision," said mission team leader, Janet Lovelace. "God taught us a lot that week, from the aggravation of 65 lost pieces of luggage, to a trip to the hospital for a young team member, to seven airline delays coming home. What a difference one person can make in the life of an entire church and ultimately the Jamaican people." Pictured above is the 2008 mission team representing Faith Church of Christ.
