Two hundred nine lots were sold at the 1998 Carroll County 4-H livestock auction, bringing a total of $83,960.32.

A special workday, called to cleanup damage caused by excess water of Deer Creek recently, brought over thirty volunteers to Riley and Trail Head parks in Delphi, on Saturday. Due to the excellent turn-out, workers were divided between the salvage project at Riley Park Suspension Bridge, the log jam at the bridge over SSR 25, and the lower trails of Trail Head park.

The Deer Creek Presbyterian FOC, youth group gathered at Betty's Stop-N-Shop last week to begin cleaning up weeds and painting the exterior of the building. The work was the group's mission project. Eight youth from Carroll, Delphi, and Lewis Cass schools participated under the supervision of their group sponsors.

A black box with bold print on it saying "I object to Smut" was burned Sunday by the Delphi first Baptist Church. The burning followed two weeks of revival in which things objected to "that hindered their growth in Christ" were collected by 100 people. Some of the things objected to were rock and roll, country and western, TV programs, pornography, occult activities and more. The burning followed the church's annual picnic at Riley park.

Continued from previous weeks…

A greater Bringhurst will result from the fire, as it has always been the history of other towns, and while the $10,000 loss will be sadly missed by those burned out the fire really will result in a good thing for the town. It is almost a safe prediction that in less than a year the business section of the town will be blessed with the addition of several new brick business rooms.

It is thought that the fire was caused by some rats nibbling at matches. Not long ago A.B. Cohee & Co. placed a large tank in their building and laid a pipe to the street.

This was of much assistance in gaining control of the fire in its northward sweep. About 5 o'clock a call for assistance was sent to this place and Marshal McCormick and Ross Penn took the hook and ladder cart to the scene. Hundreds of people visited the town Tuesday.
