Annual Alzheimer Caregiver conference at Dayton UMC

Alzheimer's Care Coalition is hosting a Caregiver's Conference Aug. 6 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Dayton United Methodist Church, 7201 Wesleyan Drive, Dayton. Keynote Speaker Jolene Brackey, founder of Enhanced Moments, an Alzheimer's education organization and author of "Creating Moments of Joy," will present "Creating Moments of Joy" with the loved one afflicted with the disease.

Other speakers include Reverend Denise Frank, West Lafayette First United Methodist Church, Jan Woltz, Area IV Agency on Aging and Community Action Programs, Ed Stachowicz, Indiana Legal Services, Carol Ott, Purdue University School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Joanne Gutek, Purdue University Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. Conference topics include Maximizing Communication Skills, Bathing Tips, Grieving, Memory Enhanced Activities, Medication Management and the Spousal Impoverishment Program.

Area IV Agency on Aging and Community Action Programs, Innervision, Purdue University Press, Mulberry Health and Retirement Community and Rosewalk Village of Lafayette are conference sponsors.
