Quilts for orphans

2008-07-30 / Community

Four women from the Flora First Christian Church made 4x5 ft. quilts for an orphanage in Fujian, China. The majority of children in this orphanage have some form of disability. Many were brought to the orphanage by police, who had found them abandoned. The orphanage is run by Living Hope International, a Christian ministry. Four women from Colorado will go to the orphanage in September as part of Project Destiny, which is partnering with Living Hope. They will minister to the children and caregivers and deliver 22 quilts, four of which were made in Flora. The local ladies pictured, l-r, are Theressa Isaacs, Elaine Smith, Pat Beckham, and Joan Jackson. The quilts were each made for a particular child. The ladies each selected one of the orphans, learned about his or her condition and interests, and prayed for the child as she quilted. Photo provided
