Dorothy G. (Gipson) Powell, 83, of Lafayette, died at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette, on Monday, July 14, 2008.

Born in Carroll County, Ind., on May 24, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Audry (Brown) Gipson. She married Earl Powell and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Powell was self-employed in home decorating and sales and enjoyed sewing.

Several nieces and nephews survive.

She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Services were held July 17 at Hippensteel Funeral Home in Lafayette, with the Rev. Bill McLean officiating. Burial was at Maple Lawn Cemetery near Flora.
