Comet staff report

Delphi Art Club is celebrating its 48th year of existence.

The club will sponsor its annual art show in the Rotunda and Lounge of the Carroll County Courthouse during the week of Old Settlers, Aug. 6 through 9. Members will have a mixture of media to show including oils, acrylic, watercolor, pastels, photography, fiber art, gourd art, rock art, china painting, and wood burning. Many items will be for sale.

A painting, donated by Robert Sales, will be raffled off at the show on Saturday night.

Judge for the show will be Jennifer Weinert of the Logansport Art Association. She will pick three place winners of each category and best in show for fine arts and best in show for the miscellaneous categories.

Visitors to the show can cast their vote for the ever popular People's Choice Awards.

This year's show will feature art work from a few past club members, including W.E. Gardner, Helen Ives, Roseland McCain, Robert McCain, Flora McQueen, Margaret Obear, Georgia Quinn, Leo Rider and Betty Smith. These works are on loan from family and friends of the artists.

The club was formed in August 1960 to stimulate and inspire the creative ability of its members and promote an interest in art in the community. At present there are 36 members in Carroll and surrounding counties. Current president is Carol Lou Oliver.

Artists from beginners to professional are welcome to become members of the club.

Members will be available during the show to talk to all interested parties and give tours of the show.
