Delphi United Methodist mission team Delphi United Methodist mission team Delphi United Methodist Church recently sent a 24- member mission team to the Appalachian Mountain Region of White Oak, Tenn. During the week-long trip, the team served four families in the Campbell County community.

Several of the team members were veterans, others were first-timers, and seven were youth of the church.

The team was divided into four work groups to complete building projects at four different locations. One group tore up the carpet/flooring of an elderly woman's home and replaced it with new sub flooring and tile. Another team set a post foundation and framed a 12x16 room addition for a large family with special needs. At a site down the road, a room addition was completed including windows, doors, drywall, and wiring by a third team. In town, a home received a new set of steps, porch decking, door and window.

Team members were called upon to use a variety of hand tools as well as heart tools. While one person hammered away, another rocked a baby, painted tables, learned to make biscuits, jumped on a trampoline, tarred a roof, walked a dog, pulled weeds, picked up trash, listened to a story, delivered prayer bears, filled out paper work, and planted seeds of hope.

A bond was created between those on the mission team and those they went to serve.
