Dorothy L. Whiteman, 73, of Monticello, died at 11:42 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Regional Health Center, Lafayette.

Born July 24, 1934, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Walter G. and Mildred E. Cree Parrett. She graduated from Camden High School in 1952. On Nov. 16, 1952, in Camden, she married Gerald C. Whiteman, who preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 1998.

Mrs. Whiteman worked in the secretarial and clerical division for Cheesebrough- Ponds for over 25 years. She later worked a few years for the law office of Guy, Christopher & Loy.

She was raised in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Camden.

She enjoyed reading, family and her grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter, Teresa Snowberger (husband: Ron) of Monticello; a son, Douglas Whiteman (wife: Mary) of Buffalo; a brother, Keith Parrett (wife: Linda) of Camden; eight grandchildren, Cory Snowberger, Jerehme Walker (wife: Vonda), Jeff Walker (wife: Jodie), Alana Ingram (husband: Kevin), Jason Whiteman (wife: Lisa), Shane Whiteman, Phil Whiteman (wife: Noel), and Bill Whiteman (wife: Erica); and 18 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Marcia Rush, also preceded her in death.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Springer- Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello. Pastor Keith Raderstorf will officiate. Burial will be at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
