Dorothy K. Atkisson, 90, of Burlington, died at 6:43 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2008, at Northwoods Village Healthcare, Kokomo.

Born Nov. 16, 1917, near Burlington, she was the daughter of Carl and Letta Larimore. She married James Thomas Atkisson on Nov. 10, 1935, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1982.

She was a homemaker and retired from Delco Electronics in Kokomo in 1980 after 23 years.

Mrs. Atkisson was a member of the Burlington Church of Christ and Euchre Club.

She liked quilting and helped make quilts for the former Brethren Home in Flora and Nesting Doves in Kokomo, and she made heart pillows for breast cancer. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, and fishing, and was an avid Cincinnati Reds baseball fan.

Surviving are her children, Robert and Tandis Atkisson of Kokomo, Carl and Janette Atkisson of Burlington, and Linda Gifford of Kokomo; a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Atkisson of Burlington; 11 grandchildren, Jerry Atkisson, Bill Atkisson, Tom Atkisson, Jayne Atkisson, Doug Atkisson, Scott Atkisson, Lisa Stringer, Laura Bowers, Melissa Marchand, Tonya Williams, and Cathy Fouch; and 20 great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death were her parents, a son, James R. "Dick" Atkisson; a granddaughter, Susan Atkisson; five sisters and one brother.

Services were Tuesday at the Burlington Church of Christ with elders of the church officiating. Burial was in the Burlington Cemetery.

Stout and Son Funeral Home, Neptune Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
