Delphi teen is newest fair queen

Her court includes first runner-up Morgan Minnicus, 18, of Delphi; second runner up Kelsie Ann Thornburg, 18, of Cutler; third runner-up Amanda K. Plank, 18, of Kokomo; and Miss Congeniality Haley Alise Richardson, 17, of Flora.
During fair week, the queen and her court attend all livestock shows, participate in the 4-H Parade, help at the livestock auction, and work all week to support the fair.
Miss Morgan, 18, will compete in August for the title of Miss Indiana State Fair Queen. She is the daughter of Cheryl Morgan of Delphi and the late Steve Morgan.

A 2008 graduate of Delphi Community High School, Miss Morgan served two internships during her senior year, working at Carroll County Medical Center and Camden Early Childhood Center.
During high school, she was an active member of National Honor Society, Student Council, serving as president, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), FFA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
She was a member of the varsity swim and pom pon dance teams, serving as captain for both.
She is completing her tenth year in 4-H.
Miss Morgan will attend Purdue University in the fall, majoring in health and kinesiology with a minor in dance. After receiving her undergraduate degree, she plans to further her education at Indiana University to become an occupational therapist, specializing in pediatrics.

First runner-up is Morgan Minnicus, daughter of Jerry and Peg Minnicus. She is a 2008 graduate of Delphi Community High School and will attend Purdue University in the fall to study pre-veterinarian medicine.

Miss Minnicus is also a 10-year 4-H member and a six-year Junior Leader.
During high school she was a member of National Honor Society, Key Club, Varsity D, French Club, SADD, and FFA. She competed four years on both the varsity swimming and varsity track teams, serving as captain for both.

Second runner-up Kelsie Ann Thornburg plans to attend Manchester College at North Manchester, where she will major in both social work and peace studies. She is a 2008 graduate of Carroll Jr.- Sr. High School.
The daughter of Laurie Thornburg of Cutler and John Thornburg, she is a 10- year 4-H member.
During high school she was involved in various service projects and participated in two mission trips. She was a member of French Club, Drama Club, and SWAT (Students With A Testimony) and competed on the golf and wrestling teams.

Third runner-up Amanda Plank is the daughter of Terry Plank of Kokomo and Tina Roddell. A 2008 Kokomo High School graduate, she will attend Manchester College in the fall to study biology. Her future plans include specializing in genetics.
During high school, she was a member of Drama Club, the Mayor's Youth Advisory Board, and varsity swim team. She was senior class vice president and for the past three summers has worked as a life guard at Kokomo Beach.
Her sponsor is Air Indiana Sky Diving Center.

She will be a senior this fall at Delphi Community High School, where she participates in Key Club, French Club, FCA and National Honor Society (NHS).
She enjoys volleyball, swimming and tennis.
A 10-year 4-H member, she participates in the beef and swine projects.

Prejudging for contestants accounted for 60 percent of their total score. Saturday evening they were judged on public pageant presence, professional wear evening gowns, and impromptu questions for the remaining 40 percent of their score.
