Allbaugh is honored
Allbaugh and Hayward Machinist's Mate 2nd Class Benjamin Allbaugh, an auxillaryman assigned to the ballistic missile submarine USS Kentucky (SSBN 737) (Gold), is presented the Navy Achievement Medal by former Chief of Naval Operations, Adm. (Ret) Thomas B. Hayward.
Allbaugh discovered rising refrigerant levels in the ship's combined atmospheric monitoring system and due to his immediate response, the ship was able to recover from the rising levels, ensuring the safety of the crew.
Allbaugh, who has been in the Navy since Oct. 26, 2004, is stationed at the Naval Submarine Base Bangor in Silverddale, Wash.
A 2004 graduate of Delphi Community High School, he is the son of Rex and Robin Allbaugh of Delphi.
