Burlington

Burlington Community Library's Summer Reading Program, "If I Were A Book," was a great success. Over 30 children participated each week, learning about the different types of books the library has to offer.

Local businesses and organizations that helped with and donated items for this year's program included Burlington Church of Christ Daycare, Kristen's Homemade Delights, Burlington Pizza, The Burlington Scoop, T-N-T Marketing, Inc. (Terry and Tammy Bollenbacher) and Faith Church of Christ. The Town of Burlington, Burlington Township Trustee and Burlington Community Library Board also offered support.

Adrea VanDeventer directed the reading program, and Laura Wildman assisted her. Both volunteered their time and talents to make this an exciting learning time for the children.

Watch for more upcoming events to be announced soon.

Delphi Public Library

Singing, dancing, great characters and dazzling costumes are featured in the musical "Guys and Dolls Jr.," a production of Stargazers Children's Theatre, July 25 and 26 at 7 p.m. in the Little Theatre. Students Chris Mayfield, Ashlynn Marvel, and Grace Currie are production assistants. The play is directed by Sara Daly Brosman and assistant director Ashley Duff.

The story is set in the rough and tumble days of New York City. It features Sarah Brown (Danielle Kelley) the mission "doll" whose mission is to save the souls of the evildoers of Times Square; Sky Masterson, (Kendall Baker) the slick, high-rolling "guy" who woos her on a bet and ends up falling in love; Adelaide (Annie Mose), the flaky song and dance "doll" whose chronic cold is brought on by the fact she's been engaged to the same "guy" for 14 years; and Nathan Detroit (Micah Red Elk), her devoted fiancé, desperate to find a spot for his floating crap game.

Admission is free however donations are appreciated. Intermission refreshments will be offered by the Friends of the Delphi Public Library.

As part of Carroll County on the Same Page, the library will present Growing Food, Growing Children, July 29 at 7 p.m. Dietician Barb Mayfield will provide hands-on activities to demonstrate how to grow healthy foods and how healthy foods grow healthy children. Participants will explore food with taste, plant seeds, hear fun stories designed to help grow a healthy child. A cooperative effort of the Delphi, Flora and Camden libraries is designed to help encourage the entire community to read the book, "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" by Barb Kingsolver.

For information call the library at (765) 564-2929.

Flora-Monroe Twp.

Built in 1918 with the help of a grant from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation, the Flora-Monroe Twp. Public Library has provided service to the town of Flora and surrounding areas for 90 years. We are having a birthday party for the library and celebrating the end of summer reading! The festivities begin July 24 at 2 p.m.

Come party with us; we'll have a craft, a game, food and surprises. The program is also a reception for the art classes held in June. Many of the finished pieces are displayed in the library's Richter Program Room. The instructor, Grace Woodruff, will be present to explain the projects and techniques used.

The library's birthday party and art reception is the final event of our "Catch the Reading Bug!" summer reading club. This program is sponsored through generous donations from Beta Alpha Chapter, Psi Iota Xi, and Bishop, Bishop, and Bishop.

Flora's discussion of "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" by Barbara Kingsolver, led by library director Melissa Bishop, was this morning at the Flora Senior Center. A special thanks to Mary Jo Redmon, Flora Senior Center director, for hosting this event. Look for upcoming discussions of the Carroll County on the Same Page selection at the Delphi Public Library and Camden-Jackson Twp. Library.

Storytime is on summer break. Kids can hear stories 24 hours a day by calling the library's Dial-a-Story, 967- 3814.
