Directions
By Pastor Dan Butcher

Butcher Butcher It is said that most men will refuse to ask for directions but will instead wander about for hours believing that they can figure it out.

With the price of gas we may not be so stubborn. We may have to breakdown and ask for assistance to save time and energy. In the long run, this will of course be what is best for us.

Many of us are facing situations in our lives that we need direction. Our communities and our country have had some very hard choices to make and many of our civic leaders have had to seek direction. Our nation is at a crossroad and is in desperate need of direction.

Some are calling for change. Others are afraid of change. Some are condemning the society that we have lived in and have enjoyed freedoms from. Some are calling to stay the course even if the course appears headed into immediate disaster.

In it all the American people continue to go about their daily grind hoping against hope that someone figures it all out so that they can hold onto jobs and provide for families.

The truth is that if we seek change for change's sake, we will fail. And if we stay the course in a direction that is headed for peril then we are going to crash.

The Bible is clear. In our individual lives "seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33)

The call for a godly nation is to repent from evil and godless ways and to ask for forgiveness of sin so that God will heal our land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

As individuals we need to relent and ask for God's direction for our personal wellbeing.

As a community we need to stop seeking our own personal agendas and pray for what God's will is for our communities.

As a nation we need to ask what direction God desires for us to go…what changes must be made…what of our sacred values must be held onto.

We need to ask for direction. It is for our own good.
