Sam Zook is re-elected Carroll board president
A new Carroll School Board organized July 1, with two new board members, a re-elected board member, and two members continuing their terms.
Serving on the board for the first time are Michelle Simmons and Rick Eller. Sam Zook was re-elected, and the remaining two are Dave Lambert and Eric Johnson.
The new slate of officers for 2008-2009 are Zook, president; Lambert, vice president; and Simmons, secretary.
Leslie Allen was re-appointed corporation treasurer, and Miriam Robeson was re-appointed corporation attorney.
The board's regular meeting days and times will continue to be on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Administration Building.
Conflict of interest statements signed by corporation employees were approved and are on file at the Administration Building.
The board amended the minutes from the last meeting to reflect the fact that when the board voted on the administrators' salary schedule, additional information was included in a board handout, and a copy of that handout is now included in the official board file.
In personnel matters, Stacey Brazel resigned as Student Council sponsor, John Filbrun resigned as freshman football coach, and Jacklyn Williams was granted a leave of absence. Williams will take a maternity leave for the 2008-2009 school year.
Zook announced that proposed amendments have been made to the following policies by the corporation's web site committee: School Internet Web Site Policy, Professional Staff Network Acceptable Use Policy, Support Staff Network Acceptable Use Policy, and Student Network Acceptable Use Policy. He said these can all be found on the corporation web site. He added that they could potentially be adopted at the next meeting.
Two 4-H requests were approved - to use the school's portable bleachers for the 4- H fair and to use a school parking lot for the tractor driving contest.
Sayers announced that three more students have graduated after each completed one class this summer.
Board representatives on the corporation insurance committee will be Johnson and Simmons. Those serving on the negotiations committee will be Zook and Lambert, with other board members possibly serving also.
Because of the fair next week, the next board meeting will be July 22 at 7:30 p.m. The place has been changed to the elementary school conference room. There will be a work session at 5 p.m., prior to the meeting.
