The "Catch the Reading Bug" summer reading club continues at the Camden- Jackson Township Public Library. Programs are being planned by Deb Foreman.
Last week's program was on flashers or fireflies. During craft time the children made glow in the dark bracelets.
Children turned in their "Bug in a Bag" projects and each received a paper bag with different items so they could create their own special bug.
The bugs were judged and the results will be announced at today's (Wednesday) program.

Faith Inspired Book Club will meet July 17 to discuss "Dancing Under the Red Star" by Karl Tobein. Light refreshments will be served during discussion at 9 a.m. The book is a story of Margaret Werner who went to Gorky, Russia with her parents in 1930 when Henry Ford started a manufacturing facility there. The son, Tobein, wrote the story of a terrifying life under the brutal dictator Joseph Stalin. Werner was 17 when her father was arrested on charges of treason. She and her mother left to suffer poverty, starvation, fear and despair. Werner was eventually sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment with hard labor and was not able to return to her home country for 30 years. Copies of the book are available.
Friday Morning Book Club will discuss the 2008 Carroll County on the Same Page selection, "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle," July 25 at 9. The book is a memoir of a year in the life of Barbara Kingsolver's family. They changed their eating and shopping habits and vowed to grow or buy locally-grown food from organic farm stands. Copies of the book are available, a library card is not necessary.
For information call the library at (765) 564-2929.

Storyteller Doyne Carson returns July 15 at 10 a.m. during storytime. Ms. Carson weaves tales that will have your children participating, imagining, and having lots of fun! They will laugh and they will be inspired. Don't miss the grand finale of our summer storytimes.
Join our librarians for the first book discussion of "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle," by Barbara Kingsolver, the Carroll County On the Same Page 2008 book selection. Relevant and timely, the book focuses on learning how to buy and eat "local," and by doing so, reducing America's reliance on fossil fuels. Of course, there are many challenges and learning times for the Kingsolver family, making it entertaining as well as informative.
Flora's book discussion is Wednesday, July 16, at 10 a.m. in the Flora Senior Center Building. All are welcome.
Art exhibits are dressing up the library's halls. The student work from Brenda Daly's Study of Shadow and Light class is displayed on the main level of the library.
The Catch the Reading Bug! art class projects can be found in various locations of the library. The preschool class made their own paper peony and poppy flowers for their "bug collections" to take turns hiding in.
Kindergartners through third graders have an assortment of butterflies, 3-D critters, and insect habitat pastels complementing tempera paintings.
The older children have art drawings and "buggy" sculptures, as well as their own butterflies. The adult class made bugscape watercolors, batik textiles, and sculptures.
The summer reading "bug" classes were taught by Grace Woodruff.
Storytime is ending for a few weeks but kids can always hear great stories by calling the library's Dial-a- Story, 967-3814.
