Andria Shirar was recently named to the East/West Junior Kentucky All-Star softball team. The game was played the second weekend of June at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

For the season, Shirar batted .437 while driving in 15 runs for her Corbin, Ky., team.

Her coach Chris Hart said before the game that the junior will be able to show college scouts what she's capable of doing.

"This is a great opportunity for her," Hart said. "She will be able to showcase her talent and it will be a good time for her to get the exposure."

Shirar is the daughter of former Burlington residents Greg and Susan Shirar. The family moved to Corbin, Ky., in November 2003.
