Delphi teens wrestle in Disney Duals
Four Delphi wrestlers competed in the 2008 Disney Duals held recently at Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
Delphi's wrestlers teamed up with Penn High School from Mishawaka in these AAU Duals National Championships. The athletes competed on either the Penn Extreme Gold team or the Penn Extreme Black team.
Braden Atwood went 9-0 in the tournament, earning a gold medal. Wes Everett went 8-1, earning a silver medal. Casey Penn wrestled for the black team and went 7-2, earning a bronze medal. Freshman to be, Tanner Lynde, went 5-4, wrestling only seniors and graduates.
The Gold team with Atwood and Everett placed 13th out of 62 teams. The Black team with Penn and Lynde finished 37th out of 62 teams.
Gold team coaches were Brad Harper, Chris Fleeger and Mike Atwood. Black team coaches were Chris Harshberger, Ted Lynde and John Henry.
The performances of Atwood, Everett and Penn earned them All-American status.
