Local hillclimbing team places at Goshen's Iron Horseman
      TMD Hillclimbing Team is off to a memorable second season. Carroll County residents Vance and Cyndi Lashley, started TMD Hillclimbing Team in May 2007. With a team of five riders, they have been racing in northern Indiana at the Goshen Iron Horseman, a sanctioned AMA District 15 race. The team has won first place finishes in two different competitions there.

Champion team
      Burlington Blast 12U softball team won the Tri-County championship and the league championship on Sunday. In the bottom of the fifth inning with the time limit of the game running out, Burlington trailed Camden 5- 8.

40th Annual Town & Country Baseball State Tournament begins Tuesday

      Paul Goyer Field in Delphi and Jackson Township Park in Camden have again been selected as host sites for the opening round District-level of the 40th annual Town & Country Youth Baseball State Tournament scheduled to begin on July 8 at 6 p.m.

      Delphi Youth Baseball Senior Division All-Stars won the county tournament held June 25 in Camden. Delphi shut out Flora 10-0 in the championship game.

Delphi teens wrestle in Disney Duals
      Four Delphi wrestlers competed in the 2008 Disney Duals held recently at Disney World in Orlando, Fla. Delphi's wrestlers teamed up with Penn High School from Mishawaka in these AAU Duals National Championships. The athletes competed on either the Penn Extreme Gold team or the Penn Extreme Black team.

      The Burlington Bulls Rookie team placed second in the Hoosier Heartland Conference Tournament held recently in Burlington.

Shirar is All-Star
      Andria Shirar was recently named to the East/West Junior Kentucky All-Star softball team. The game was played the second weekend of June at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. For the season, Shirar batted .437 while driving in 15 runs for her Corbin, Ky., team.
