Bennett B. Dyer
Bennett Bazz Dyer, 74, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2008, in the V.A. Medical Center at Indianapolis.
He was born Dec. 2, 1933. at Monroe, Ky., to Cecil Dyer and Hattie Pruitt Dyer. He was married to Barbara Brooks, who preceded him in death on June 1, 2006.
Mr. Dyer was a veteran of the U.S. Army Tenth Mountain Division.
His hobbies included studying and passionately discussing the Bible, as well as history, wars, and politics.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Dora and Lee Trippett of Chalmers, Emily and Robert Abdo of Cairo, Egypt, and Darcy and Dave Cavanaugh of Meridian, Idaho; a sister, Geneva Sims of Indianapolis; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Barb Dyer of Delphi; five grandchildren, BrieAnna Dillman, Mitch Clendenen, Amanda Abdo, Andrew Abdo, and Grace Abdo; and three great-grandchildren, Colton Clendenen, Braedyn Dillman, and Blayde Dillman.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, and four sisters, Maude Davis, Lilly Mae Taylor, Merterie Emmert, and Ada Spall.
Graveside Services were held Saturday in Bethesda Memorial Park, West Terre Haute, with military rites provided by the Vigo County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family suggests that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Riley Children's Hospital, 1100 W. Michigan Street, Indianapolis, IN 46223. Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, West Terre Haute, was in charge of arrangements.
