Comet staff report

Children ages 8 to 13 are invited to attend Barnyard Boot Camp, a farm safety day, to be held Aug. 2 and sponsored by ADM Grain Company-Logansport.

Each year approximately 300 children are killed and 23,500 are injured on farms. The camp is designed to address important safety issues.

Groups will rotate through ten different farm and home hazard stations with hands-on demonstrations to help reinforce safety rules. These stations include: Farm Equipment Safety, Animal Safety, Lawn Mower Safety, Grain Flow Safety, Chemical Safety, First Aid, Food Safety, Blind Spots and Buckling Up, ATV Safety, and Boat and Water Safety. Children will learn about these hazards and ways to protect themselves on the farm.
