'Carroll County on the Same Page' at Delphi Farmer's Market
Librarians from the Camden Jackson Township, Flora- Monroe Township and Delphi public libraries have announced the 2008 selection for the Carroll County on the Same Page community read project. This year's selection is "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" by best-selling author Barbara Kingsolver.
The story is about a family's year of eating only food they could grow themselves or purchase from their neighbors. The sustainable food movement is gaining ground throughout the country as people seek to eat healthier, consider the environmental effects of their actions more carefully, and support their local farmers.
Carroll County is supporting the endeavor with the local Farmer's Market Wednesday afternoons from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Market St. adjacent to the courthouse, in Delphi.
Because the Same Page selection focuses on eating and growing locally the county librarians will be at the Delphi Farmer's Market June 25 to promote "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle." Copies of the book will be available for interested consumers to borrow. No library card is required.
Also available will be book lists for additional reading in the areas of farming and gardening, food habits, canning and preserving, and children's literature, featuring books found at one or more of the three county p 2libraries.
Local residents are encouraged to stop by the June 25 Farmer's Market to get a copy of the book and help get all of Carroll County on the Same Page!
