Photo provided Greg Norman became the president of the Delphi Preservation Society (DPS) at the June 19 meeting of its board of directors. Also elected were Lynn Corson, vice president, and Carol Wellnitz, secretary. Dick Traeger was re-elected to a third term as treasurer.

In May 2008, the DPS board established an Opera House Advisory Board to guide the restoration of the historic structure owned by the Society. Anita Werling was named chair of that board.

"Establishing a separate advisory group for the Opera House restoration was a key decision reached at the DPS board retreat last fall," Norman commented. "The restructuring not only provides greater focus for the Opera House project, but enables the Society to move forward on other key aspects of our mission."

Werling added, "The Opera House Advisory Board will bring together the many stakeholders who will be key to restoring this gem as a performing arts center. It is our goal to use the Opera House to return the arts to our community, to draw people to Delphi, and to serve as a catalyst for economic revitalization of the downtown."

In other action, the DPS board approved plans to hold volunteer workdays on the fourth Saturday of each month. The next workday will be June 28 at 9 a.m. at the Opera House building. The board also agreed to pursue funding for other renovations to the façade of the Opera House building.
