EDUCATION NEWS
Two Delphi women were among the 589 graduating students who received degrees at DePauw University's 169th commencement held May 18.
MEGAN LYNN WALTON received a Bachelor of Arts degree. She is the daughter Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth R. Walton. JAMIE ANN NIPPLE received a Bachelor of Arts degree. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark R. Nipple.
They are both 2004 graduates of Delphi Community High School.
The following area students completed degree requirements during the spring semester at Ball State University. They are:

REANNA MORRISON, Camden, Bachelor of Science degree.

RYNE HILLENBERG, Delphi, Bachelor of Science degree.
MARK SHANKS, Delphi, Bachelor of Science degree.
ALLISON BABB, Flora, Bachelor of Arts degree.
REED STILLER, Flora, Bachelor of Science degree.
GREGORY MANNING, Bringhurst, has been awarded a Founder's Scholarship to attend Mount Union College.
A 2008 graduate of Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School, he was a member of the varsity baseball team where he received multiple All-Conference and All-Loganland team awards.
Eligibility for the Founders' Award is based upon outstanding high school academic achievement and demonstrated aptitude for college on the ACT or SAT-I examinations. This award is renewable for four years as long as the recipient maintains a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and is a full-time traditional student at Mount Union.
The son of Paul and Sue Manning, he plans to pursue a major in accounting.
Area students named to the Indiana University Kokomo spring dean's list include: CHRISTOPHER D. WOLFE, Bringhurst; ANGELA L. POWELL and CHARLOTTE M. DROLL, both of Burlington; LEANNE J. COSSAIRT, MELISSA M. KIGER, TRISTAN D. SIEBER and AMANDA L. SNAVLEY, all of Camden; SHELBY L. ALBAUGH, JANELLE L. COX and DARCI M. HALL, all of Flora; and GREGORY L. BOWMAN and ESTHER JOY PHILLIPS, both of Rossville.
Valparaiso University student DILLON CARTER of Flora is participating in a summer study program in China. Students are visiting places of cultural, historical and economic importance such as Shanghai, Hangzhou and Beijing during the program, as well as taking classes taught by Valparaiso professors. Valparaiso offers the summer program at its Hangzhou Study Center, located in a city of more than two million people that is the capital of one of China's most prosperous provinces.
Carter is an art major. He is the son of Byron and Wyndham Carter.
LORA HANAWAY of Flora was named to the spring semester dean's list at Ball State University, Muncie.
KARA OVERHOLSER of Bringhurst received a $1,000 scholarship from Archer Daniels Midland Company in collaboration with the national FFA Organization.
Each year the national FFA awards more than $2 million in scholarships to its members. For the third year, ADM has partnered with FFA to offer scholarships to students who have displayed academic achievement and involvement with extracurricular activities.
Overholser plans to attend St. Louis University in the fall to study biological sciences. The daughter of Rex and Suzan Overholser, she is a member of the Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School FFA chapter.
