Recycling is high priority at DCES

Due to the diligence of two students and their parents, Delphi Community Elementary School has become a "little greener" in its efforts to encourage responsibility to the planet. Recently, Madison Hodge and Lacie Tomson worked together and submitted a grant proposal for recycling bins to place around the elementary school. After reviewing the grant applications, representatives from the Northwest Indiana Solid Waste District decided to fund the grant and help the students and adults of DCES with their recycling efforts. Currently, the school's student council members collect paper to recycle every week while the entire school makes efforts to recycle cell phones and ink cartridges. "With our new recycling centers, our school community has more accessibility to recycling cans and plastic bottles," commented DCES Principal Bill Shidler. Photo provided
