Denis and Bonnie Horn of Lafayette, formerly of Delphi, announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather E. Horn, to Curtis M. VanRiper of Chicago.

The bride-elect is a 1996 graduate of Delphi Community High School and a 2000 graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in management. She completed her Master of Business Administration degree from Argosy University, Chicago, in 2007. She is employed by The Illinois Institute of Art, Chicago, as assistant director of career services.

Her fiancé is the son of Tim and Pat VanRiper of Oswego, Ill. He is a 1995 graduate of Oswego Community High School, a 1999 graduate of the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, and a 2007 graduate of the University of Chicago with a Master of Science degree in computer science. He is employed by Allscripts as an interface project manager.

An Oct. 18 wedding is being planned.
