County to hold 2nd annual Fallen Officers Blood Drive
      The second annual fallen officer's blood drive will be held not only in the Lafayette District, but throughout the state this month. On July 10, 2001, Sergeant Dan R. Starnes of the Morgan County Sheriff's Department lost his life as a result of gunshot wounds sustained during a line of duty gun battle with a burglary suspect four weeks earlier.

Shaffer benefit dinner is set June 25
      A dinner to benefit Todd and Cheryl Shaffer of Madison Township has been set for June 25 at Carroll High School cafeteria. Serving will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Todd was recently diagnosed with throat cancer. Tickets for the pork loin dinner are: age 12 and younger $5; age 13 and older $8. All meals, dine in or carry-out, are available by pre-sold tickets only.

DCSC tables $20M building project
      Delphi Community School Corporation Board of Trustees decided Monday night to give the old adage 'time heals all wounds' a chance instead of fighting patrons in court. The board voted to table discussion regarding its proposed building renovation project until after July 1 when new state laws regarding the process become effective.

SR25 restricted thru June 25
      The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will restrict traffic on SR25 between US421 and SR218 to one lane as directed by flag persons during daylight hours through June 25 while pavement is resurfaced. Work schedule is subject to change in the event of inclement weather.

Carroll students experienced in roller coaster building
      Carroll Elementary sixth graders know first-hand that it takes math skills to build a roller coaster. Students of math teacher Jana Conn divided into groups of four to build their own roller coaster models. There was a judging at school, and then the top six teams were selected to go to Indiana Beach on May 16 for the roller coaster contest there.

Carroll to borrow $800,000 because of tax draw delay
      Carroll School Board will proceed with obtaining an $800,000 bank loan for its general fund. Also called a tax anticipation warrant, the temporary loan will be paid back when the school corporation gets its tax draw.
