Camden Lodge presents awards
      At recent public ceremonies several members of Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge #211 received honors for long-term membership and achievements. The event was held in the historic Masonic Building on Camden's Main Street.

Awards a-plenty at Lions Club banquet
      Delphi Lions Club presented several awards and scholarships during its annual awards banquet May 21. Thirty-five members and 11 guests were present. The club's Teacher of the Year Award was presented to Delphi high school business teacher Laurie Kinzie. She has been an educator there for 21 years and was nominated by a student.

Former deputy finds part-time home at Delphi PD
      Former Carroll County Deputy Jason Dunning, terminated due to county budget reductions, was sworn in May 16 as a part-time fill-in officer for Delphi. According to chief Justin Darling, Dunning will fill in on shifts when no other officer is available to work. He will not have regular hours.

Flora Senior Center offers daily activities
      The Flora Senior Center is now under management by the Town of Flora and Mary Jo Redmon is the new site director. Redmon has planned a full schedule of activities throughout June for local senior citizens. The monthly presentation by Serenity Hospice will be on GERD and will start at 12:30 p.m. June 10.

Fund established for local farmer
      Todd Shaffer of Madison Township was recently diagnosed with throat cancer. In response, a group of friends, neighbors and associates of Shaffer and his wife, Cheryl, have opened the Todd & Cheryl Shaffer Benefit Account at Lafayette Bank & Trust.

      The DNR Division of Law Enforcement presented awards to outstanding Indiana Conservation Officers last week.

      Carroll County's Adams Mill will host the annual Celebrate Wildcat Creek June 7. The event, which offers a variety of activities ranging from free canoe rides to nature hikes and special kids programs, has become a springtime tradition for many in and out-ofcounty residents.

DLGF provides online tax estimator
      The Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF) and Indiana Business Research Center (IBRC) at Indiana University released an online property tax calculator for Carroll County taxpayers last week. The tool can be accessed from the department's Web site, www.in.gov/dlgf.

Camden Youth Day/Parade is Saturday
      The annual Jackson Township Parade and Youth Day will be held Saturday in Camden. This year's parade theme is "Celebrating an All-Star Community." The parade is set to begin at 10 a.m. with line-up starting at 8:30.

Delphi farmers' market is a go!
      Delphi city council members took several positive steps to support local merchants, families and incoming industry at Monday night's meeting. The first to take effect was the approval of a Delphi Farmers' Market to be organized and implemented by Delphi Main Street and local vendors.

Wray new commander of VFW
      Paul "Gob" Wray of Delphi was recently named the new commander of Delphi VFW Post 9383. A member for more than 20 years, he replaced former commander Butch Calvert. "It will take big shoes to fill what Butch did here," Wray said. "I hope I'm the man with those shoes.
