County artists invited to participate in Crawfordsville exhibit
Carroll County artists are invited to apply for the 7th Downtown Crawfordsville Juried Art Exhibit in business windows Sept. 26 through Oct. 5. The project of the Art League of Montgomery County, the exhibit will accept entries from 18 counties in west central Indiana, in digital or slide form, until Aug. 1.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Over 330 previous participants have recently received applications by mail.
This year's jurors come from Bloomington and Indianapolis. They will select participants in early August and return to choose prizewinners. Carrie Schwier, Hanover College graduate and Master in art history from Indiana University, currently holds the position of Curatorial Assistant of Works on Paper at the I.U. Art Museum. Abbey Pintar graduated and went on to receive a Masters degree in art history from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Mich. She recently joined the staff of the Basile Center for Art, Design and Public Life at Herron School in Indianapolis and also serves on the board of the Indianapolis Downtown Arts and Dealers Association.
This year's opening Friday Night Gala will feature the awarding of at least $3,000 in prize money. Categories include painting, drawing, watercolor, graphic arts, photographs, stained glass, mixed media, clay, sculpture, fiber art, woodworking, jewelry, digital photography and digital art.
