VANESSA VANSICKLE of Delphi graduated last weekend from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, where she majored in music perf ormance (bassoon). She performed in a Saturday evening concert for parents and participated in the Honors Student Commencement. On Sunday she participated in the CMU Commencement. Later that day she took part in the commencement for the CMU School of Music.
VanSickle She earned an international exchange scholarship, DAAD, and will spend a year studying at the Robert Schumann Music Conservatory in Dusseldorf, Germany, studying bassoon with Gustavo Nunez, the principal bassoonist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam.
VanSickle is a member of the Carnegie Mellon University Philharmonic that presented a farewell concert on April 29 for its music director of the past 17 years, Juan Pablo Izquierdo. The concert was held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
She is the daughter of Tom and Pam VanSickle of Delphi.
BETINA K. SCOTT of Burlington graduated from Ivy Tech Community College, Kokomo. with an Associate of Applied Science degree in manufacturing and industrial technology with a CNC specialty.
She was awarded the Vice Chancellor's Award and was named outstanding student in the Manufacturing and Industrial Technology field.
Scott is a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society and is on the Dean's List for twoyear institutions.
She is a single mother with a five-year-old daughter. Her parents are Belinda Pearson of Burlington and Mike Scott of Remington.
