Double Dozen EH
Double Dozen Extension Homemakers met May 6 at the home of Virginia Marcellino with nine members present. The hostess also gave devotions.
Wilma Robeson led in singing the Song of the Month and in honoring the birthdays of Betty Bell and Etta Byers and the anniversary of Elizabeth Downham.
Those volunteering to work at the Extension food stand on July 15 were Etta Byers, Helen Forgey, Virginia Marcellino, Barbara Dillon, and Wilma Robeson.
Two lessons were presented. "Strengthen Your Self-Discipline" was given by Helen Forgey, and "Taking Control of Emotional Eating" was given by Wilma Robeson, with all members participating.
Helen Forgey won the prize.
The next meeting will be June 3, Friends Night, with Elizabeth Mylet as hostess.
Wednesday Forum
Members of Wednesday Forum met in May for lunch at the home of Nancy Klinker.
Jan Hathaway reviewed "Musicophillia: Tales of Music and the Brain" by Oliver Sacks. He is a professor of neurology and clinical psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center. She said the book focused on people afflicted with strange musical disorders or powers that affected their professional and daily lives. She provided examples from the text regarding how music can benefit people. Musical perception, sensibility, emotion and memory can survivie long after other forms of memory have disappeared according to the book.
Tri Kappa
The Delphi Associate Chapter of Tri Kappa met May 13 for lunch and a meeting at the Carroll County Country Club.
President Patsy McCammack announced a rocking chair was purchased in memory of deceased member Mary Ellen Campbell.
Officers for the following year were installed. They are: Mary Helen Abbott and Pat Duff, co-presidents; Marjory Clifford, vice president; Mary Wesner, secretary; and Mary Brown, treasurer.
The Projects Committee approved the purchase of paper goods and toothpaste for the Carroll County Food Pantry.
The birthday pig was fed by Joan Maxwell, McCammack and Helen Schilling.
