Oracle track teams compete in Hoosier Conference championships

Delphi's boys and girls track and field team competed in the Hoosier Conference championships last Friday night. The girls finished fifth and the boys finished seventh.

The top girl finishers for the Oracles were: Olivia George, 2nd in the high jump; Mara Burton, 3rd in the 100 hurdles and long jump; Kylee German, 4th in discus and shot put, and the 400 relay team of George, Burton, Alisha Myers, and Chelsey Marcotte.

Top finishers for the boys were: A.J. Erskin, 3rd in the 110 hurdles and 4th in the 300 hurdles; Jordan Wagner, tied for 4th in the high jump; and the 1600 meter relay team of J.D. Huffer, Erskin, Paul Knight, and Jonathan Hufford were 4th.

Mara Burton set the school record in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.37

Last week the Oracles hosted Benton Central. The boys won 71-61 and the girls lost 46-86. Leading Delphi were triple winners Jonathan Hufford, Matt Wilcox and Erskin. Double winners were J.D. Huffer, Kari Lake, Marcotte, and George. Other first place finishers were Burton, Myers, Denise Kendall, Kris Bender, and Roy Anderson.

This week the girls will participate in the Sectional on Tuesday and the boys on Thursday. Both Sectionals will take place at Lafayette Jefferson.
