Delphi track teams prepare for sectional
This Friday¸ Delphi boys and girls track teams will compete in the Hoosier Conference championships and then will finish the year with Sectional competition next week. The girls will participate on Tuesday and the boys will run on Thursday. Both Sectional meets will be held at Lafayette Jefferson.
The teams finished fourth and third respectively at the Carroll- White County Championships held last week. The Oracles boasted six champions. Olivia George won the high jump, Kari Lake and Jonathan Hufford each won the 400 meter dash, and newcomer Kris Bender won the 3200 meter run. The girls' 400 meter relay team of George, Mara Burton, Alisha Myers, and Chelsey Marcotte and the boys' 1600 meter relay team of Matt Wilcox, J.D. Huffer, Paul Knight and Hufford were also victorious. Burton, George, Marcotte, Lake, and Hufford put in runner-up finishes.
On Thursday, the Oracles participated in the 93rd Annual RMDs, Indiana's oldest track meet. The boys finished tied for second and the girls finished third. Wilcox was a triple winner and George won twice. Other winners for Delphi were: Burton, Myers, Marcotte, Hufford, Huffer, and Knight. The girls' throwers relay of Hannah Strasser, Jonell Randle, Linsey Salyer, and Ashley Dirbas were also victorious.
Delphi hosted its final meet of the year against Benton Central. The Oracles celebrated the last home meet for nine seniors.
The seniors recognized were Arielle Brosman, Ashlee Buchanon, Mara Burton, Kylee German, Bria Jones, Morgan Minnicus, Andrew Hall, Jonathan Hufford, and Mickey Urick.
