Delphi set for 75th Annual Ebrite Relays

The 75th annual Ebrite Relays will be held Saturday at Delphi Community High School. The Ebrite relays are the oldest relays in Indiana and this year boasts 28 teams.

Field events will start at 9:30 a.m. and the running events start at noon.

Last week the Delphi boys and girls track teams competed against Clinton Central and at the eight-team Twin Lakes Invitational. Versus Clinton Central, the girls fell one event short and lost 62 to 69. The boys also lost 29 to 103. At Twin Lakes, the boys finished strongly in 4th place and the girls finished 7th.

Individual winners for the Oracles versus the Bulldogs were: Grace Currie, 800 meter run; Arielle Brosman, 1600 and 3200 meter runs; Olivia George, high jump; J. D. Huffer, 800 meter run; Kris Bender, 3200 meter run; and Matt Wilcox, long jump. The girls relay teams of Kari Lake, Brosman, Currie, and Hannah Evans in the 3200 meter relay, and George, Mara Burton, Alisha Myers, and Chelsey Marcotte in the 400 meter relay were also victorious.

On Friday night, second place medal winners were: George and Marcotte, and the boys sprint medley team of Wilcox, Spencer Conner, Clint McLeland, and Jonathan Hufford. Bronze medal winners were: girls 400 meter team of George, Burton, Myers, and Marcotte; boys 1600 meter relay team of Wilcox, Huffer, A.J. Erskin, and Hufford; and boys long jump relay team of Wilcox and Hufford.

Kris Bender dropped an additional 30 seconds from his 3200 meter run for a 5th place finish. Ashlee Buchanon broke her own school pole vault record with a jump of 7'6".

The Oracles will also compete at Frankfort on Thursday.
