EH members honored for achievements
      Carroll County Extension Homemakers celebrated achievements of outstanding clubs and individuals at their annual Friends Day/Achievement Awards on April 17. The theme for the day was "Kitchen Klassics." Six new members were recognized with an IEHA pin: Brenda Young, Cheryl Milburn, Teresa Fife, Mary Simpson, Darice Sheiss, and Patricia Beckman.

Absentee voting is under way
      Residents who wish to vote absentee can do so in the Carroll County Clerk's Office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon. The office is closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m.

Bloodmobile visits Flora
      Forty-nine units of blood were received from 59 volunteers when the Red Cross Bloodmobile visited Flora on April 17. The Flora Old Order German Baptist Church with eight volunteers will receive $100 from Flora Psi Iota Xi for having the most donors. The Bringhurst United Methodist and the Delphi United Methodist tied for runner-up with five volunteers each.

Delphi Post Office to hold Passport Fair May 3
      For people planning a trip outside the country, the Delphi Post Office can help travelers get there with the right documents. On May 3, the Delphi Post Office, 201 W. Franklin Street, will host a "Passport Fair" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Postal Service sales and service associates will help residents with passport applications, fees and photos.

DCSC board candidates share views
      Three townships within Delphi Community School Corporation will hold elections for school board representatives during the May primary election, but only two positions have the potential to change hands. Liberty Township incumbent Mike Shoemaker is challenged by William Trueblood. Rock Creek board member Paul Brown is opposed by Chris Nipple.

Petition filed against DCSC project
      A "petition requesting the application of a petition and remonstrance process" regarding Delphi Community School Corporation's 2008 Facility Renovation Project was submitted Friday to the Carroll County Clerk's Office. According to clerk Laura Sterrett, a total of 119 unverified signatures were listed on the forms. The deadline to file a petition was April 18.

Relay For Life to hold county sweep and cruise-in Friday
      Carroll County Relay For Life will be "Painting the Town" purple on Friday. The goal of the Relay For Life Committee is to make a sweep of Delphi and Carroll County in asking for donations, sponsorships and encouraging companies and groups to form teams to walk and raise money in the annual event.

The circus is coming to town!
      Flora Community Club and Volunteer Fire Department are sponsoring two performances of the Kelly Miller Brothers Circus on May 7. The first performance will be at 4:30 p.m., followed by the second at 7:30 p.m., both at Flora Community Park.

Registration begins for Little Miss & Mister Contest
      The 30th Annual Little Miss and the 13th Annual Little Mister Contest will be held July 11 at 7 p.m. at the Carroll County 4-H Fairgrounds in Flora. To be eligible to compete, contestants must be at least five years of age and cannot have reached his/her eighth birthday before Aug. 5, 2008.

Break-in at Payne's Pharmacy
      Police are questioning a suspect in connection with a burglary Friday morning at Payne's Pharmacy in Flora. The break-in was reported Friday morning at 8:12 a.m. by a neighboring business owner. According to Chief Paul Redmon, entry was gained sometime during the night through a door on the south side of the building (Columbia Street).

'T' intersection restricted for construction
      The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is working on an intersection improvement project around the "T" intersection of U.S. 421/State Road 39 and State Road 18/U.S. 421/SR 39 in Carroll County. Traffic is being restricted to one lane as directed by flag persons around a moving operation through Friday.
