Dororthy Murdock
Circa 1946 Dorothy M. Ryan Murdock, 86, of Delphi, passed away April 1, 2008, at 7:44 p.m. at St. Elizabeth
Medical Center in Lafayette. She had been in ill health for the past year.
She was born May 3, 1921, to Robert and Grace Moore Ryan, in Kingwood, W. Va. Her marriage was to William B. Murdock in Jeffersonville on June 29, 1946, and he survives.
Mrs. Murdock graduated from high school in Ohio in 1939, and was a 1946 graduate of the Royal Beauty Academy in Indianapolis. She owned and operated a beauty parlor in Indianapolis for a few years, then moved to Brown County and became an oil canvas artist. She enjoyed land and seascapes. The couple moved to Delphi in 1975.
Mrs. Murdock was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi, where she served as Eucharistic minister and faithfully ministered to shut-ins and sick parish members, until her health would not allow.
She was a member of the Brown County Art Gallery. Her hobby was oil canvas painting.
Surviving are her husband in Delphi; two sons, Joseph Murdock (wife: Susan) of Ockley and Michael Murdock (wife: Roberta) of Morgantown, W. Va.; a sister, Evelyn Agal of Speedway; a granddaughter, Natasha Allen (husband: Jeremy); and three great-grandchldren.
Mrs. Murdock was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
A funeral mass was held April 5 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi, and was officiated by Fr. Peter Vanderkolk. Burial was at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Delphi.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi. Envelopes are available at Abbott Funeral Home, which was in charge of arrangements.
