Boat taking shape
2008-04-09 / Community
A full-scale, look-alike canal boat is being constructed at Canal Park. It is 70 feet long and 12 feet wide. Some of the features will be two platforms, two cabins, and a gangplank for entrance. This on-land boat is meant for exploring, and will have crawl space and hide and seek areas. A child's slide and rope ladder will allow exit over the side. The volunteer crew is constructing the boat from sketches made by canal museum designer Len Mysliwiec. They expect to have it completed by Memorial Day.
